GRANITE COUNTERTOPS

Granite is an igneous (solidified magma) rock that is richly beautiful in a way that other stones – either naturally occurring or manmade – generally are not. Boasting an almost timeless aura, granite countertops can take even otherwise ordinary kitchens to the next level and become a visual focal point. In addition to being highly scratch resistant, granite is virtually impervious to heat and doesn’t easily fall victim to food stains. Remember, though, that granite is a porous stone that periodically has to be sealed.

MARBLE COUNTERTOPS

The general consensus is that marble is best suited for bathroom countertop applications. The two primary reasons behind this are that (1) marble is extremely porous, and (2) it can all too easily be chipped or scratched in the everyday hustle and bustle of the kitchen environment. That being said, marble countertops can be spectacularly elegant and can be found in a vast array of colors and veining patterns. Like granite, marble is an igneous rock that is quarried from the earth.

QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS

Though relatively new on the scene, quartz countertops are certainly here to stay thanks to a combination of their attractive appearance, durability, and nonporous nature. A quartz countertop is a manmade stone product comprising approximately 90 percent ground quartz along with ~10 percent resin binder, polymers, and pigments.
